About
Event Address: 1218 M Street Northwest, Washington, DC, USA
Description: In the Taoist practice, the kidneys are the organ associated with the water element and thus the winter season. They represent the yin (feminine) force and store within them the essential energy that powers all of the other organs. They are like your bio-batteries of the body! If there is no charge on your battery, there is no connection. It’s so crucial to take care of these vital organs, especially during this time of the year. Having strong, healthy kidneys is essential to our wellbeing. They govern the bladder, the sexual organs, bones, and brain. They are also associated with our hearing and balance. When the Qi of the kidneys is in balance and flowing fully with life force, we feel energized, calm, embodied with inner peace, and supported by the Earth. We have a healthy sex drive and feel passionate, sensual, gentle, and creative. We have the magnetism and willpower to create and to manifest our dreams. We have the courage to move through life and are not paralyzed by our fear. However, when the kidneys are not in balance or depleted, we can experience fatigue, low sex drive, back pain, poor memory, incontinence, achy joints, poor hearing, fear, low energy, and lack of initiative or creativity. There could be hormonal imbalance, osteoporosis, and accelerated aging! Therefore, you can see by this list, it’s so vital to consciously replenish your kidney energy! The kidneys store the Jing - the ancestral blueprint or inheritance that we received from our ancestors at birth. In TCM, we also refer to it as Pre-Natal Qi. This energy according to the Taoist, cannot be replenished and is gradually spent in our lives. This makes conserving this energy through Qigong and energy cultivation practice so important. We can also supplement with our Post-Natal Qi (energy we acquire through the refinement of food, water, & breath. This energy combination of your Pre-natal Qi (Jing Qi) and the Post-natal Qi acts as your core energy reserve, supporting all bodily functions throughout your life. Preserving Kidney function is therefore fundamental for health on every level. Moving Beyond Fear. The Kidneys, when imbalanced, are associated with the emotion of fear, in Chinese Medicine. Fear is the emotion most responsible for holding people back in life. Fear of change, fear of judgment, fear of failing, fear of success, fear of not being enough, fear of rejection, etc... I could go on and on. We have all experienced at least one of these fears in our lifetime, and perhaps several of them. Truth is that fear can be a powerful force to propel us forward, rather than holding us back when we know how to transmute it. In this workshop, you’ll learn practices to transmute fear into the virtues of calmness & inner peace so that you can surrender to your internal wisdom. During this Qigong workshop you’ll learn: ~How to Transmute Fear into Peace and Wisdom ~How to Intuit your kidney energy levels and sense which of your kidneys need more Qi ~How to breathe into your kidneys and pack them with essential life force ~How to strengthen, cleanse and empower your bone marrow for greater vitality ~How to circulate energy into the brain for increased brain function & health ~How to pack Qi and breathe into your Bones for longevity ~How to release toxic energy from your kidneys and replace it with vibrant, healthy, Qi ~How to support your kidney health nutritionally with food and herbs This workshop will be beneficial if you’re experiencing any of the following: ~Low energy levels or fatigue ~Kidney ailments or physical imbalances (kidney stones, kidney disease, etc) ~Low sex drive ~Have difficulty sleeping and or relaxing ~Achy joints or joint pain ~Lower back pain ~Poor hearing ~Lack of drive or initiative ~Hormonal imbalances ~Want to cultivate more inner peace and calm ~Addiction to caffeine or other stimulants ~Bladder issues & incontinence ~An interest in cultivating a healthier body and mind overall
