Description:
Afrocentrik Honors for Excellence in Diaspora (AHED) Awards
AHED is an acknowledgment of the outstanding contributions by several individuals, groups or industries in the diaspora. A non-competitive honor that celebrates distinguished personalities who have brought pride and recognition to our community through their careers, passion and investment.
This particular event will be dedicated to the Information Technology industry, being one of the fastest growing industries globally and one of the top careers with myriads of accomplished Africans.
For the African Diaspora community, the emergence of this industry has transformed our community and is making us stand out as viable and thriving citizens of the United States.
THE IT INDUSTRY
This industry has been one of the thriving industries globally. It is an industry that has permeated all walks of life and our community has had its share of workforce in this industry. In Houston alone, over 3,000 Africans have trained as IT personnel consequently transforming the wealth of our community. In celebrating this thriving industry, Afrocentrik Honors for Excellence in Diaspora has decided to throw a spotlight on this industry with this inaugural event.

INTRODUCTION OF THE HOST - AFROCENTRIK TELEVISION Channel 15.8
Afrocentrik Television is a minority owned TV channel that services the African Diaspora population in the Greater Houston metro area. Established in 2013 as Afrocentric Network Television, it rebranded as Vineyard TV in 2015 and later in 2018 rechristened as Afrocentrik Television.
It has gained the trust of the African Diaspora community through its engagement and commitment within the community through its programming and events.
Last year we celebrated the community with the inaugural Afrocentrik EVA Awards that pulled the community together to recognize the leading lights in different walks of life with over 50 awards.
Afrocentrik has therefore invested in the community by harnessing the potentials and the values that are preponderant within in our community.
Afrocentrik Honors for Excellence in Diaspora, AHED is another community undertaking from our stable that acknowledges the outstanding contributions by several individuals, groups or industries in the diaspora. A non-competitive honor that celebrates distinguished personalities who have brought pride and recognition to our community through their careers, passion and investment.
