Description: The Consulate General of Canada in Atlanta in partnership with the Auburn Avenue Research Library and The Black Money Exhibit presents a panel discussion that will explore the history and legacy of pioneering Black Canadians, including Viola Desmond, the first Canadian woman to appear on a regularly circulating bank note. In 1946, Desmond, a successful businesswoman, was jailed for refusing to leave a Whites-only area of a movie theatre. Her court case inspired the pursuit of racial equality across Canada. Panelists include: Nadia Theodore- Honourable Consul Genreal of Canada in Atlanta Malinda S.
