About this Event
Although travel in every part of the world has been brought to a halt, there is no excuse for you not to travel. You can join this online trip from the comfort of your home.
The African presence is intertwined in Brazilian history, culture, and the overall way of life. It is this history that tells the story of struggle and resistance.
Brazil is the country where 40% of all Africans were taken as captives in the Americas between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries. 60% entered the country through the port of Rio de Janeiro. This represented almost a quarter of all Africans enslaved in the Americas.
Rio had the largest slave port in the history of humanity. This history and the impact of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade created the legacy of Brazil’s colonial heritage. Today, the dynamics of exclusion and socioeconomic conditions that permeate Brazilian society is the direct result of the colonialists’ legacy.
Yet out of the darkness has immerged a vibrant Brazilian society that is culturally rich, filled with customs, arts, entertainment and worldwide influence.
Join us online for an exclusive experience where we will take you to one of the most important places in the country of Brazil. You will learn more about the history, people, and the Afro-Brazilian movement of today.
Once the pandemic lifts, you will want to book your next trip to Brazil. All attendees will receive a special gift at the conclusion of our online trip.
