Description:
On Sept 23rd at 1 pm 93-year-old Social Impact Leader, Ms. Opal Lee will walk to capital hill followed by 50 personal carrying boxes assigned and representing to each state in United States America. Ms. Opal will drop the physical copies off at Congress to show how widespread the support is to make Juneteenth a national holiday.
To get the signatures in the doors of Congress, Ms. Opal has contacted both Democratic and Republican Senators for their support and assistance. Ms. Opal has received support from [her Congressman Marc Veasey, Senator John Cornyn, and others] who will be there on the 23rd to accept her signatures.
What’s the aim?
Ms. Opal will deliver these signatures to Congress to physically show how much support the movement has gained. Her goal is to encourage Congress to update the U.S. Code 36 to include Juneteenth as a national holiday.
