Description:
OSUN SENGESE FESTIVAL 2024
Come join us at Sweetwater Creek State Park for the OSUN SENGESE FESTIVAL 2024!
Our 4th Annual OSUN SENGESE FESTIVAL is a traditional spiritual festival Dedicated to Osun, the Yoruba goddess of fertility, healing, rivers, and love. Giving offerings and prayers to Osun has historically been known to remove sicknesss, to make barren women fertile, and to bring blessings of all forms.
The inclusion of traditional African Bata Drums and Osun Bembe drums, along with the energetic dance performance, promises to create a captivating atmosphere filled with spiritual resonance. The presence of Osun Priestesses with their Aja - Osun Bells adds a profound dimension to the prayers and offerings, enhancing the connection to the divine.
These offerings symbolize gratitude, respect, and supplication to the goddess.
Offerings hold deep significance in honoring Osun. It's a way for participants to seek healing, protection, and prosperity from Osun and it's beautiful to witness participants expressing their gratitude and seeking blessings through offerings of gin, dandelion green stew (Osuns favorite), kola nut, fruits, sweets, brass (Osuns favorite) and monetary contributions. Additionally, the tradition of 'Dashing' cash to drumers and performers adds a communal spirit to the festivities, enriching the experience for all involved.
Vendors are welcome. Also food and drinks will be served. Children are also welcome to attend and participate in the childrens activities.
Overall, the Osun Festival is a vibrant and culturally rich event and is an inclusive celebration of Yoruba culture and spirituality. Hope to see you there!!!
Yeye Olosunde,
Goddess of the Healing Waters
