About
Event Address: 101 Auburn Avenue Northeast, Atlanta, GA, USA
Description:
In recognition of LGBT Pride Month (June), which commemorates the 1969 Stonewall riots, and in collaboration with the African American Film Critics Associations (AAFCA), the Auburn Avenue Research Library (AARL) will virtually screen the groundbreaking film, Punks.
Before Queer as Folk, Noah’s Arc or Looking, there was Punks, the pioneering film written and directed by Patrik-Ian Polk. This compelling Black Gay Rom-Com intimately explores friendship and romance among a community of Black gay men living in West Hollywood at the end of the 20th century. Punk remains a timely film that celebrates gay Black Love, foregrounding the communal gay Black male experience. This event will include a post-screening discussion.
