About

Event Address: 101 Auburn Avenue Northeast, Atlanta, GA, USA

Description: This live performance features theRadicals, an Atlanta based Instrument Trap Band, whose live performances curate a complex and original sound rooted in the authentic ambience of Trap music, while simultaneously reflecting and responding to classical music; jazz; southern band culture; street performance / busking; and Hip Hop. This new compelling sonic landscape coined Trapbone Trapbone, represents the vanguard of the Atlanta’s music scene. This performance also includes an opening poetic reflection on the work of political activist, Mumia Abu-Jamal, by Dr. Chrystal China, Lecturer at Georgia State University; and a post-performance discussion, facilitated by Georgia State University, Doctoral Student, shady R. Radical (formerly shady patterson). Trap is a style of hip hop music that was developed in the late 1990s to early 2000s in the Southern United States. It is typified by sub-divided hi-hats, heavy, sub-bass layered kick drums in the style of the Roland TR-808 drum machine, typically in half time syncopated rhythms, layered with drones expressed by muted or slightly muted abstract or orchestral synthesizers and an overall melancholy to dark ambience and lyrical content.
