Description: The Auburn Avenue Research Library’s (AARL), Second Fridays at Auburn is a quarterly informal social networking mixer allowing local creatives, cultural enthusiasts, and devoted Afrophiles to communally experience Africana art and culture in a relaxed interactive atmosphere. In observance of National Poetry Month (2019) and the birth of poet, author, composer and recording artist Gil Scott-Heron (April 1, 1949) this Second Friday at Auburn event will feature a screening of the documentary film, The Revolution Will Not Be Televised, followed by a spoken word open mic, giving Atlanta poets the opportunity to pay lyrical homage to Heron’s legacy by sharing original pieces inspired by his profound body of work
